Dr. Alec Elchahal, known as Dr. E to most patients, is committed to the constant pursuit of clinical excellence in order to offer his patients the utmost care possible.
Dr. Elchahal obtained his doctoral and orthodontic degrees from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry and graduated in 1997. While at the Medical College of Georgia, he was active in research throughout his orthodontic residency and earned a Master of Science degree in Oral Biological Sciences.
Dr. Elchahal stays abreast with the latest clinical information by attending continuing education courses regularly and is a member of the Georgia Association of Orthodontics and Southern ssociation of Orthodontics, among many other organizations.
Dr. David Schaefer is happy to create beautiful smiles for his patients in his home state.
Dr. Schaefer attended Young Harris College and the University of Georgia as an undergraduate and completed dental school at the Medical College of Georgia. He then entered the Army a second time as an Army Dental Corps officer, completing a one-year general dentistry residency at Fort Carson, Colorado. He was later selected to the Tri-Service Orthodontic Residency Program at the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He then
returned to serve as Professor, Chief of Orthodontics for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program.
Dr. Schaefer is a board-certified orthodontist as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a distinction held only by a small percentage of orthodontists.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and giving back to his community.
Dr. Sunya Sweeney, DMD, grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia, and loves to watch her patients transform during treatment. Dr. Sweeney attended Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, as an undergraduate and moved to Augusta, Georgia, to earn her DMD at the Medical College of Georgia.
She then completed a general practice residency at New York Methodist Hospital and an orthodontic residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In 2015, Dr. Sweeney was board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics — something only 1 in 3 orthodontists achieve. When she’s not in the office, Dr. Sweeney enjoys painting, drawing, playing tennis and running, as well as spending time with her family.
Dr. Lekht attended Rutgers University before earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, graduating at the top of her class. Afterwards, she completed a general practice residency at Beth Israel Medical Center.
Dr. Lekht then went on to earn both her Certificate in Orthodontics and Masters of Dental Science Degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Her director of orthodontics’ recommendation of her as ‘one of the top residents to graduate from our program in the last 10 years’ confirmed she was the perfect fit for our orthodontic team.
